Welcome to part 2 of the Primrose & Proper Super Scarf crochet-a-long! It’s been fun seeing your WIP pictures over in the Facebook group!
Today we’ll be putting the edging on, and I’ll share a couple of other project ideas that you can make using this stitch pattern (now that you are probably able to do the row 3-6 repeats in your sleep). 😉
Also, if you want to share your finished project on Ravelry, you can do so here.
Stitches Used, for this part:
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
Edging:
After finishing your final row 6 repeat, ch 1, turn, and sl st over into 2nd stitch of row, [sc, ch 2, sc] in 2nd stitch, *skip 2 stitches, [sc, ch 2, sc] in next Repeat this pattern around the outside of the scarf (you’ll probably recognize this pattern as row 3 from the main instructions). When you get to corners you should have 1 stitch left, sl st into it and start your next [sc, ch 2, sc] group in the first stitch along the edge. With 2 repeats, and the edging added, my 8′ scarf measured about 6″ wide, had 100 “bumps” along each side, and 8 bumps across each end. Join to first sl st.
These images show how to turn a corner.
Cut yarn, and weave in ends
Alternative edging instructions:
Make a picot edging like this: sc in next 3 stitches, ch 3, sl st into the bottom of the chain making a picot *sc in next 3 stitches, ch 3, sl st into the bottom of the chain making a picot* repeat * to * around the entire piece. Join with sl st to first sc.
Additional Projects to make with this pattern:
An Afghan:
Start with the 6′ or 8′ scarf length and repeat rows 3-6 until it’s an afghan. The 5′ version would work for a child’s twin size bed, or as a lap-ghan. Add the edging of your choice.
A winter wrap:
Choose the length of scarf you want and keep working the row repeats until it’s long enough to go over your shoulders and down your arms. Add the edging of your choice.
