Hello! Welcome to the first installment of “Fashion Feature Friday”. I plan on running this twice a month to give you some fun and feminine outfit ideas for wearing the pieces you make from the crochet patterns available on this site. The goal is to offer 3 different stylings, or outfit ideas for each piece: A casual look, a date-night/girls night out ensemble, and a “dressy” look (featuring a dress or skirt). Most of my shopping is done at thrift stores and vintage boutiques, so often the exact item is no longer available. I will link similar clothing pieces to what I have shown as often as possible so you can purchase them if you like. However, if you’re a budget shopper like me, it may be more fun for you to head to your local Savers, Goodwill, or Salvation Army to see what clothing deals you can find! Either way I hope you enjoy this feature and that it gives you some ideas on how to style various crochet accessories.
Today I’ll be featuring the Ribbons and Grace Headband <–click on the link to go to the free crochet pattern
I suggest wearing your hair down, and putting a bit of curl in it to up the romance factor. If your hair doesn’t hold curl, don’t feel discouraged, it’s ok–be confident in who you are! A confident woman is a powerful force to reckon with (much more powerful than curls–and curls rank right up there). Keep scrolling down to see the outfits!

This first outfit is relaxed and casual, while remaining upscale enough for spring outings to visit the gardens, or hanging out with your girlfriends at the movies or at a local cafe. (Get-togethers with girlfriends are important at any age, amiright?) The jacket and boots will keep you warm if the day turns cool, and if shorter shorts aren’t your thing, feel free to substitute with Bermuda shorts that offer more coverage. If you end up going with the Bermuda shorts, I’d also recommend switching out the boots for sandals or slip-on flats–these will make your legs appear longer, where as the long shorts paired with boots will cut you off and make you look shorter (speaking from experience here–I’m not quite 5’4″, and my height comes from my torso).

This date-night outfit is girly and a bit over-the-top, but that’s what adds to its charm! The ruffled jacket paired over the sheer coral colored top (wear a nude colored cami underneath) oozes femininity and playfulness, while the skinny jeans and sophisticated heels keep things fresh and modern.

The final outfit for today is something that would be dressy enough for date night, or any time you feel the need to wear a skirt. This sweater covers the belt on this skirt (they are attached), but I have included a link to a separate belt, if you prefer to try that.

This a great addition to your patterns (I love the whole set, and I rarely love an entire pattern set and only one thing- they are all unique enough that they aren’t too matchy- matchy!).
Thank you for putting the time into making this! It’s helpful for picturing the right person to gift it to, for putting them in display for selling, and especially inspiring for picking out complimentary ribbons/ etc.
You’re welcome, Staci! I’m glad you’ve found it helpful for a variety of situations!
Hi Kirsten, I love how you started showcasing fashion with your designs. Some of us need it, ha ha! It’s really nice to see how you can pair up what we crochet with our clothes… and I think that what you are doing here is a great idea! Thank you again for what you are doing!
Aww, thank you, Carol! I’m so glad you enjoyed this first installment!
