Decorate your mugs with cute cozies that reflect your style and taste! If you’re looking for a last-minute Christmas gift idea this pattern delivers! It’s got 3 different crochet cup cozy patterns to fit several different tastes.
The first crochet cup cozy is embellished with a ribbon woven through little metal rings corset-style (so Victorian, don’t you think?). I also added a little pendant for some extra sparkle.
Cup cozy #2 uses the knit stitch or “center single crochet” stitch to give it most of it’s texture. It’s finished off with pretty scallopes and a line of surface-slip stitched texture around the edges below the shells. Its simple, but elegant style oozes femininity!
The 3rd mug cozy has a simple snow flake pattern embroidered on it. Surface slip stitches are also used to add more color and texture to this very simple cup cozy design.
I used acrylic yarn because of how easy it is to wash if you spill come coco on your mug. Just rinse it off with some cold water and lay the cozy flat to dry. The ribbon on the first mug cozy will need to be removed if you decide to machine wash the cozy, but the other two can be machine washed in a delicates bag.
I hope you enjoy making, and gifting these cup cozies to your friends and family this Christmas!

The following row will be worked along the end of the cozy, along the top and then down across the other end. It will be bracket-shaped, like so: [.
Row 8: With front side facing you, attach yarn to bottom of opposite corner (this will be diagonally across from where you ended row 7).evenly work 10 sc along end (final st of the end should be worked in the 3rd loop of the first hdc of row 7, ch 1, continue around corner, and working in the 3rd loop of hdc, sc in each st across, ch 1, work around corner, and evenly work 10 sc along other end of cozy, ch 1, turn. (53)
Row 9: sc2tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, ch 1, turn (8)
Row 10: sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (8)
Row 11: sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 12: sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (6)
Row 13: sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 14: sc2tog, sc2tog, ch 1, turn. (2)
Row 15: ch 8, sl st back into same st. (Ch-8 sp)
Fasten off.
This next row is worked up the side of the button tab end, around the ch-8 sp, and then down the other side–a bit like an upside-down V.
Row 16: With front side facing you, and button loop toward the top, attach yarn to right side of cozy at row 7, sc evenly up the diagonal edge until you come to ch-8 sp (button loop), 14 sc in ch-8 sp, continue working down the other side until you arrive back at row 1 of the body.
Round 17: using 3.25mm hook, rsc in each st around, ch 1 at corners to turn them.
Use your tails to reinforce the button hole when you weave them in.
Fasten off, and weave in ends.
Sew 1 1/8″ button to end of cozy.
Creating your corseted ribbon:
Working on row 2, count over 7 stitches from end opposite of button loop. Take 8 6mm jump rings, open them up and put 4 of them around the front half of every 6th sc st in row 2, take the remaining 4, open them up and put them around every 6th hdc stitch in row 7. Be sure to close them when you are done. These rings are where you’ll string the ribbon through.
Take 1 yard of ribbon and thread it through the rings the same way you would thread a shoestring. Tie off the bow at the top of your cozy instead of in the middle of the cozy, so that your bow sits up higher. Once you have your bow positioned the way you want it take a needle and thread and sew a stitch or two in the center to keep the bow from undoing.
Adding the jewel to your bow:
Take 4mm jump ring, open it up and thread it around the center “bar” of the bow between the two loops, then close it. Take fine 4mm jump ring, open it up and put a tiny pendant on it. Join it to the 4mm jump ring.

Creating your corseted ribbon:
Working on row 2, take 12 6mm jump rings, open them up and put 6 of them around the front half of every 6th sc st in row 2, take the remaining 6, open them up and put them around every 6th hdc stitch in row 7. It is important that the rings in both rows line up and be directly opposite each other. Be sure to close the jump rings when you are done.
Take 3mm jump ring, open it up and put a tiny pendant on it. Join it to the 4mm jump ring.
